CMST 4R03 CROSS-CULTURAL COMMUNICATION

Students explore the links between language and culture and learn skills necessary to be intermediaries between cultures. Topics include: communication between genders, the cognitive role of metaphor, language and perception, emotions across cultures, culture and advertising, body language and cultural stereotyping. Seminar (two hours); one term Prerequisite(s): LINGUIST 1AA3 and six units of Linguistics courses above Level I; or permission of the Department Cross-List(s): LINGUIST 4R03 Offered in alternate years. This course is administered by the Department of Linguistics and Languages.
