KINESIOL 4L03 SOCIOLOGY OF THE BODY

A sociological examination of how and why the body has become a defining factor in the construction of the self in late modernity. Topics include the social forces that shape human bodies and bodily experiences, the body as the container and expression of the self, and the body as an object of social control. Three hours (lectures/seminars); one term Prerequisite(s): KINESIOL 3P03 and registration in Level III or above of an Honours Kinesiology program Not open to students with credit in KINESIOL 4F03, if the topic was Sociology of the Body.
