EARTH SC 4CC3 ENVIRONMENTAL RECONSTRUCTION USING STABLE ISOTOPES

Stable isotopes are widely used in modern earth and environmental sciences because of their unique chemical properties that enable us to trace past and current environmental processes. This course will discuss the basic principles of stable isotope geochemistry and their applications to paleo and modern climate and environmental reconstruction. Two lectures, one lab (three hours); one term Prerequisite(s): EARTH SC 3CC3 or ENVIR SC 3CC3. One of EARTH SC 2E03, ENVIR SC 2E03, ISCI 2A18 is strongly recommended. Cross-List(s): ENVIR SC 4CC3
